Commemoration Day - Saturday 7th September 2024
I am pleased to invite you to this year's Commemoration Day. This day in the School calendar is marked by a Cathedral service recalling the School's history, founders and benefactors. The preacher this year will be The Very Reverend Nicholas Papadopulos, OR, Dean of Salisbury. Former pupils are invited to visit the School and there will be cricket and netball matches between School teams and the Old Roffensians.
The attendance of all pupils in the Preparatory and Senior Schools (with the exception of Year 4) is compulsory at this prestigious annual event. Senior School pupils register in the School Hall and Preparatory School pupils register in the Preparatory School Yard at 10.30 a.m. Parents are, of course, very welcome and traditionally the day is a great gathering of the King's community. Please note pupils are seated separately to parents in the Cathedral.
The programme for the day is detailed below and, in addition to the Cathedral service, we invite pupils and parents to stay and watch the sporting events and enjoy lunch and afternoon tea.
Programme:
11:00 Commemoration Day Service in the Cathedral
12:30 School v OR Cricket match on The Paddock
13:00 School v OR Netball match on the School House Court
13:15 Lunch at St. Margaret's Garden
14:00 Netball trophy awarded and players lunches
14:00 Guided tour of the School starting from The Paddock
14.30 Tree Planting Ceremony
16:15 Afternoon Tea at St. Margaret's Garden
To enable us to manage numbers for the service and catering, please confirm your attendance here, by Sunday 1st September.
I do hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you there.
With all good wishes
Ben Charles
