On Friday the 13th of January, the Netball first team played their previously postponed game against the Old Roffensians. The girls started training as the OR team flowed into the hall. As lots of familiar faces and captains from years gone past here to play, the first team were anticipating a good game. With this being the first game of the season and having several new additions to the team, the girls had the opportunity to try out new positions, including Niamh stepping up as a shooter, surprisingly herself with multiple shots in. Mirren, Aroluwa and Krystal formed an incredible defence, causing many turnovers and brilliant interceptions. Dusita, Niamh, Louisa and Amryt formed a brand new but powerful centre court, managing to move the ball down through the hall down to the shooters. Dusita especially used speed and agility to evade the OR team. Sarah and Chloe recreated the ever-loved shooting duo, successfully scoring many fantastic goals. Unfortunately, the formable team of Maddie and Ruth and their fantastic shooting allowed the OR’s to gain a strong lead. The score ended with a disappointing loss for the girls.
